Flomax (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride) is used to treat prostate cancer, a condition called BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia, also known as prostate enlargement). Flomax 0.2mg and 0.4mg belongs to the class of alpha-blockers. It works by weakening the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, which in turn leads to the relief of symptoms of BPH, such as the feeling of frequent urination, weak urine stream difficulty in beginning to urinate. Tamsulosin hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder that melts with decomposition at approximately 230°C. It is sparingly soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in glacial acetic acid and ethanol, and practically insoluble in ether.
The prostate gland is a small glandular-muscular organ that is located in the pelvis below the bladder, covering the initial division of the urethra (the urethra). The prostate gland produces a secret which, mixing with the semen, sperm activity and support their resistance to various adverse conditions. If you have a history of prostate cancer, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this Flomax.
Initially, these drugs have been developed for the treatment of hypertension. The action of these drugs is that they relax the smooth muscles of the neck of the bladder thereby facilitating urination. These medications include Hytrin, Proroxan, Cardura, and Flomax. All of the alpha -blockers have the same effect. The action of these preparations is quite rapid it starts after 1 - 2 days after administration. However, these drugs are not without side effects.
Flomax is not used with other analogs of this drug. Try to take this medication at the same time each day. Keep an eye out for a doctor's prescription. Laboratory and/or medical tests (prostate antigen or PSA) should be performed periodically that we could keep track of your progress or to identify the drug side effects. Ask your doctor for more information.
